Charities We Support
In 2005 Grove End Housing funded the creation of an independent registered charity, Commonweal Housing, with the aim of using some of its surpluses to further the philanthropic ideals of Sir John Mactaggart.
Commonweal Housing is a ground-breaking action learning and campaigning charity seeking to develop, establish and pilot new and innovative housing-based solutions for those that have experienced different forms of social injustice. Grove End Housing continues to provide funds to Commonweal that cover the charity’s annual core operating costs.
In 2022 the Board of Grove End Housing approved a new policy to make significant donations to other charities every year. So far, nearly 50 individual charities of all types have been supported by Grove End Housing with donations ranging from a few thousand pounds to several hundred thousand pounds. All the charities are nominated by individual Board directors and approved by the entire Board.
Please note that Grove End Housing does not accept unsolicited requests for support from charities.
